This month’s theme is “backwards”! To celebrate, we’re trying to turn creativity on its head by doing something...
And it has begun…..sponsored posts on #tumblr #sadface :( FINE go ahead add #universalhorrorfilms .. #dollarsigns #logos popping up everywhere. I kind of wish tumblr had turned to its users to bail them out for $5 dollars a pop like rage against the machine. On the bright size I think they have done a nice job of making the sponsored posts ui links inconspicuously ‘blend’ in to the newsfeed like this animated GIF promoting the aptly named upcoming movie release The Purge. If this is truly the creative community they have purchased in to…BUT if someone in marketing gets too happy, about roi and viewership, exposure and bigdata…and forget that necessity is the mother of invention not merely acquisition;One would only hope it will not be long until this attitude catalyzes a mass exodus of content creators following in the footsteps of Geocities which will live on with its cache forever archived in our memories on flickr.
